Pipeline Programs
We have served more than 4,000 students in our MSM K-12 programs, our Undergraduate Health Sciences Academy, and other pipeline programs. About 99 percent of the students come from underrepresented populations. With these programs, students are given the opportunity to pursue careers in medicine, healthcare, and science — and a chance to eventually give back to the communities they came from, breaking the cycle of health inequity.

We are funneling many of these bright students into graduate and medical school while successfully encouraging and inspiring them to practice in underserved areas. Our Pipeline Programs include:
MSM STEAM Academy for grades four through eight and nine through 12
Reach One Each One, which introduces socioeconomically disadvantaged junior and senior high school students to the medical field through interactions with MSM students, residents, and faculty in the classroom and the hospital setting
Academically Prepared for EXcellence (APEX), which brings post-undergraduate students to MSM for help with MCAT preparation, critical thinking, medical school applications, interviewing skills, and personal statement writing
Atlanta Sickle Cell Research Program , a summer program in which students spend part of their research engagement at MSM and part at Emory University
Health Careers Opportunity Program, which brings in high school students from BEST Academy and Booker T. Washington High Schools and undergraduate students from Atlanta Metropolitan State College to engage in summer courses on anatomy and biostatistics
Undergraduate Health Sciences Academy (UHSA). Working with the Atlanta University Center Consortium, this program connects undergraduates — from Spelman College, Morehouse College, and Clark Atlanta University — to medical-education opportunities at Morehouse School of Medicine
The needs of the workforce are complex and evolving, and too many young people in the United States lack adequate access to the educational programs that will best prepare them for success.
In Atlanta alone, MSM has partnered with numerous primary, secondary, and post-secondary schools to bring STEM education to students and put them on the path to careers in the healthcare professions.
